Our 4, 5, and 6-foot gate panels all come standard with a 28-inch-wide gate opening. The 8-inch-high gate threshold helps keep newborn lambs and kids inside the pen while the ewe or doe follows them in, giving you time to close the gate.

A Practical Start for Ewes, Does, and Their Newborns

Individual lambing and kidding pens give each ewe or doe and her newborns their own space for bonding. Often called lambing jugs, these pens make it easier to observe nursing and keep a close eye on the mother and her lambs or kids during their first days together.

Matching sheep and goat pen panels and gates let you organize your barn around the space you have. Keep access for daily observation and care in mind as you plan your rows and walkways.

Divider and Rear Panels With a Solid Lower Section

Use matching pen panels as dividers between pens or as rear panels for your lambing and kidding area. RamQuip’s lambing and kidding panels are solid up to 18 inches off the floor, with open mesh above. The solid lower section helps block drafts at lamb and kid level and provides a degree of privacy between neighboring pens.

The solid lower section helps discourage a ewe or doe from trying to reach lambs or kids in the pen next door. Combined with matching gate panels, the dividers give each mother and her newborns their own space.

Sturdy construction, long-term farm value, and a polished, premium appearance make these panels and gates a practical addition to a shepherd’s lambing barn.

One Row or Two Rows Back to Back

Arrange pens for your lambing or kidding barn in a single row or two rows back to back. Combine the available panel and gate sizes to create 4 × 4, 4 × 5, 4 × 6, 5 × 5, 5 × 6, or 6 × 6-foot pens, with the orientation that suits your barn.

Pin requirements depend on the number of panels meeting at each junction.

Plan Your Connecting Pins

Count pins at each junction where panels meet. Two intersecting panels require one pin; three intersecting panels require two pins; four intersecting panels require three pins.
